My Painted Office/Craft Room

We finally got around to painting our office. We didn't do it originally because we didn't want to have to move all the books out. The creation of new bookcases made the decision to paint easier. :) We decided that the new bookcases are going to go into our bedroom so that left a bunch of room open for furniture rearrangement. I decided to use the same color in the office that we did in the living room for a cohesive look. I put the idea out there for painting the ceiling in the office too, and I was shot down. I think it looks nice and now there are only 3 rooms left to be painted in our house: the laundry room, the master bedroom and master bathroom. Our house was in disarray for a few days while we painted but thankfully the office only required two coats of paint. Not all of the furniture made it back into the office: the large bookcase, the colorful drawer cart, and the dark wood desk all found new homes. The dark desk now lives in our bedroom and the other two storage items don't get to come back into my house. :) The only thing that has made it back onto the wall is my white shelf, everything else I haven't decided where/how I want it to go and to look. I'm going to have Andrew make a new frame for my white board since it's very broken and then I'm going to take of the flowers and I think paint the frames brown for the cork board and white board. I think on the wall that you can see from the living room I will do a picture collage with family pictures and such. We'll see. Here are more pictures than you ever thought you wanted of my new office:

*Update*
I found this in the Photo Booth pictures on the Mac. Not sure why but it's inverted. It's another almost before picture. :)

It was like the office threw up furniture in our living room

At least we could still see the TV

The Painted Kitchen & Living Room

My lovely green kitchen

We painted the wall the beige/yellow so there would be a differentiation between the kitchen and the arch.

We did the same thing on the other side of the kitchen, it's a lot easier to change colors in a corner.

My lovely green arch.

My other lovely green arch.

It's interesting how different lighting will affect the way a color looks.

My awesome inset. From these pictures it looks like I used 3 different colors but the beige/yellow are all the same color.

27 Weeks Pregnant

Today I am 27 weeks 3 days pregnant. It's been a while since I've taken a picture and I thought it was about time. Random thought: I have this shirt in red and it was/is my favorite shirt to wear and I just happened to find the exact same shirt in black at the thrift store! I was really excited.

Here I am barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen...

Here I am at 27 weeks pregnant with Peter. Again barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen...

You'll notice that I'm in the same spot for both pictures, but the picture taken today is a more green than before. :)

I've determined that I'm one of those crazy women that actually enjoys being pregnant. I really don't get that sick during the first trimester (I feel a little nauseous with out actually getting sick) and I get my energy back fairly quickly during the second trimester. Now that the third trimester is creeping up on me I'm feeling great. I did have some joint pain in my hips and knees but I've been going to the chiropractor once a week and now my joints haven't really been bothering me.

A few weeks ago I was stopped in Walmart by a cute little old man who told me that Peter was a beautiful baby and since I made such good looking kids I should have a dozen of them. This still makes me laugh. I was joking with Andrew about this the other night and I said that since I have such easy pregnancies and Peter was/is such a good baby (a good eater and sleeper) and we make cute babies, how would you feel about having a dozen kids? His response was, "I don't think I can afford twelve kids." He did say that the bonus of having 12 kids is that the oldest will probably be 24 when the last one comes and by then there's tons of other kids around to help with the younger kids. My main objection to having 12 kids is being pregnant and nursing for SO long, 9 years of being pregnant and 12 years of nursing. So I guess I'm saying who knows how many kids we'll end up having. :)

Sneak Peek

We painted our living room and hallway honey beige and I'm slowly working on putting the decor back up. So here's a sneak peek of how it looks.

The primary reason we painted is because we had the nasty flat white paint that the builders use because it's cheap and our walls were filthy with no real way to clean them. Plus I've never really lived somewhere where I've been able to experiment with colors on the walls.

I should also say thanks to Amanda and Autumn for inspiring/pushing me to get it done.

New Blue Bathroom

Last Saturday I finally decided on a color for the guest bathroom and I actually went and bought a gallon of paint to do the job. I had plans to start painting right away but forgot about all the prep work that goes into painting so I ended up painting Sunday evening after Peter went to bed. I got the first coat done and then didn't start on the second coat until last night. I was finally able to put my bathroom back together this morning. I ended up using about 2/3rds of gallon for both coats. It's funny how painting the bathroom has inspired me to finish painting the rest of my house and I actually bought the paint for the kitchen and the living room/hallway/office and primer to paint the 3rd bedroom (which will become Peter's room when the baby comes) the same color as Peter's room.

Before

After (I don't know why there's a light spot in the picture 'cause it's not really there)

Peter wanted to be in the picture

Peter was crying but stopped so he could smile for the camera.

We've Gone Green!!!

I finally decided on a paint color for one room! :) Peter's plain white room is now a vibrant green. I've been wanting to paint for a while now and was indecisive on a color. I don't really remember what made me choose green... perhaps it was the Lowes commercial where the mom & dad are looking at colors chips at the store and the lady suggests green because it is calming, then they switch to them painting the room green and the kids are being loud and they get quiet when they enter the room and when the parents turn around they're reading (apparently the boy is reading War & Peace and the girl is reading Sense and Sensibility). Either way I like the green that I chose.

I think we matched the color pretty well.

The room/wall after the 2nd coat of paint (it looked really streaky and ugly after the primer and only one coat of paint).
The curtain fabric next to the wall. I think it's going to look awesome!

Everything all back in the room (minus the futon).

I wasn't sure how the wall hangings were going to look but I really like how it turned out.

Temporary curtains. Even though this window faces north there's still too much light during the day for Peter's naps.
