Peter's 3 Year Stats

Peter also went in to the doctor's for his annual check-up last Monday. It was kind of fun because at 3 is when they start to do the physical type exam in addition to the doctor exam. They took his blood pressure and he got to help and they weighed and measured him using the big scale and the wall ruler. He was a bit wary of the thing that comes down on the wall ruler to measure his height but overall he did really well. They tried to do the hearing test but he wasn't giving clear enough answers, they also tried to do the vision test and they had me cover up one of his eyes but by the end of the exam instead of standing with his back against the wall he was lying on the floor with me covering one of his eyes. Maybe next year. :) I also tried to get him to pee in a cup and he just thought that was the funniest thing and was not having any of it. Peter used to be a crier whenever the doctor tried to touch him and this time he actually laughed. So here are his stats:

Height: 37 1/2" - 50%
Weight: 31 lbs - 45%
Head: 19 3/4" - 60%

So he's definitely growing really well. He came from the bottom and is now in the middle for everything. He is quite the character and a 75% good big brother. If I tell Josie to stop doing something and I don't get to her first he will intervene and take it away or make her stop what she was doing. I have to remind him that I am the Mom and I will take care of it. But he will also sit and play with her or give her toys or smack her or push her down for no apparent reason. He has so much energy and loves to go and play at the park or at his friend Tingen's house. He has turned into quite the picky eater, it's frustrating because he used to be just like Josie where I could put anything in front of him and he would eat it happily. I guess that's part of growing up. He loves Blue's Clues and Phineas and Ferb and he gets to watch one episode of one show after peeing in the potty. Which leads us to Peter's potty training, he has gotten so good at going to the potty all by himself. He will even yell potty and run to the bathroom when he needs to go. Peter is talking a ton. It's amazing the difference between a 2 year old and a 3 year old. He's still working on sentences and it's entertaining to listen to. He knows that there are supposed to be more words between Mommy and Blue's Clues Joe so he will insert made up words and that will be his sentence. Peter loves to hide in things; it doesn't really matter what, laundry baskets, boxes, under blankets or pillows he loves it. He thinks that because he loves it so much that everyone does too so he'll try to cover Josie or his friends in pillows and blankets and that usually ends with whomever he is trying to cover crying for help. He also loves to play with any and all electronics especially my camera. I have a whole folder dedicated to pictures Peter has taken while playing with the camera.

I heard a ruckus during nap time and went to check on Peter and this is what I found

Josie's 1 Year Stats

I took Josie to the doctor's on Monday for her 1 year check up and she is a tiny little thing. So without further ado here are her stats:

Weight: 18 lb 4 oz - 5%
Height: 28 1/2" - 25%
Head: 17" - 5%

She started walking really well right around her birthday and she does everything she can to keep up with Peter. Josie has started to say quite a few words I have heard her repeat what Peter says, like stuck, and then not say that word again. Here is a list of some of the words she says regularly: Mommy, Daddy, please, thank you, cheese (there's more that I can't remember right now). She does the sign for all done, please, more, milk. She is such a climber. Whenever she can she climbs up and sits on our entertainment center, the sofa table behind the couch, the stairs at friends' houses, up and down on chairs and couches and really anything that she deems "climbable," which is everything. :) She babbles a lot and laughs and smiles and is just a happy baby. We were at the park the other day playing and this little boy asked Andrew why Josie was so happy. It was cute. Josie is such a girly girl and SO dramatic. An example of the drama: she refuses to drink cold milk, if I try to give her cold milk she takes a sip and throws her sippy cup on the ground. Then when the cup is empty and she was not done drinking milk she wails like she's dying because it's all gone. She is a really good eater, she'll eat pretty much anything that we put in front of her and she'll even beg for what I'm eating if it's not the same as her food. Josie is a thumb sucker she stopped using a pacifier quite a few months ago and will just use her thumb to comfort herself and to go to sleep. Josie does this thing where she will try to wear something and she knows that it needs to go over her head but more often than not she will pull it over her head and drape it, whatever it may be, around the back of her neck. She will also find clothes or anything soft and carry it around. She is amazingly good at understanding directions, even if she doesn't always listen, I will tell her to go put what's in her hand back where she got it and she'll turn around and put it back, sometimes, other times she'll pretend to put it back but keep it in her hand and try to walk away with it. Josie has 3 teeth with possibly 2 more on their way. It's kind of funny because she has her 2 bottom front teeth and the other tooth is not a front tooth it's the one next to the front teeth. I just can't believe how big she's getting and what a big girl she's turning into. I also can't believe that in 5 short months she will be in nursery!

Josie is 9 Months Old!

Josie is officially 9 months old today. I can't believe it!

She had her 9 month checkup on Wednesday and here are her stats:

Height: 27 1/4" - 50%
Weight: 15 lb 10 oz - 10%
Head: 17" - 25%

She didn't get any shots this time around but they did do a finger prick to test for anemia, which she doesn't have. The nurse was really impressed that Josie didn't cry when her finger was pricked. When she was all done she put a tiny bandaid on Josie's finger which instantly went into her mouth, just like everything else Josie comes in contact with.

She is such an active and happy little girl. She is really moving and grooving lately. She army crawled for a little while but she's discovered proper crawling and does that most of the time except when she's trying to go somewhere faster then she drops on her belly and army crawls. She will also pull herself to standing on pretty much anything that will support her. She will also get up on her hands and feet trying to stand up, unsuccessfully, which has turned into another way to move around. She will also get up on her knees and hang out like that and play. I have even seen her climb onto low toys. We lowered the crib last month when she figured out how to sit herself up and today I pulled out the bumpers so she won't climb on them. She is constantly putting things in her mouth. If it's on the floor it's fair game, including walls and toes. It feels like I'm constantly pulling something out of or checking to see what's in her mouth.

It is so fun to see Josie and Peter play together. They fight a lot too. Sometimes Peter initiates the fight but not always. Josie will crawl up to him and try to take whatever he's got in his hands away from him. I'm surprised by how often she will start the fight, but I guess I shouldn't be since she's learned it from him.

I got the climbing progression on film!
(Except for the last picture, but I needed 9 to do it this way)

She is such a ham!

Josie's 6 Month Stats

So I took Josie to the doctor today for her 6 month check-up and she didn't grow all that much in the past two months. I should have asked the doctor about it but since we had been waiting in the room for so long Peter was done and was throwing a major fit and I was done too. Anyway here are her stats:

Height: 25 3/4" - 50%
Weight: 14 lbs 8.5 oz - 25%
Head: 16 1/4" - 25%

So a funny story from her appointment: Josie had to have an oral vaccine and she didn't want to swallow it. The nurse would put some in her mouth and Josie would smile and it would ooze right out of her mouth. We eventually got her to drink enough of it but it was funny watching her assert her opinion.

Josie is really starting to become mobile. She rolls from back to front and  from front to back, although sometimes she gets tired on her tummy and forgets that she can roll over and yells for help. She will rotate while on her tummy, she'll see something interesting and turn to play with it then do it again and wouldn't you know it she's turned herself in a complete circle. She still does her abs of steel workout, that's when she lifts her head and her legs straight into the air and just holds it there and then does it again. I should count to see how many reps she's doing at a time. Although lately she has been distracted by her feet, so sometimes her workout is cut short by trying to eat her feet. She is an excellent sitter. She can't sit herself up but when I sit her up she stays that way for quite some time and then when she's done sitting she will just fold herself over and kick her legs out from under her and then she's on her tummy.

We recently started giving her rice cereal and the first time we did she did the same thing that she did at the doctor's office with the oral vaccine, she smiled at us and just let it all run down her chin. I did figure out that if I leave the spoon in her mouth for a few seconds she will suck on it and the cereal in the process and end up eating her cereal. I hope that helps her to sleep longer at night. She used to be an excellent sleeper but lately she's been waking 1-2 times a night on her belly.

Josie loves to watch everything that goes on around her especially if there are kids around. She will stare intently at Peter, who is totally oblivious, and just watch him and smile. She is such a happy baby. She smiles all the time at anyone and everyone. Pretty much the only times she cries is when she's hungry, tired and sometimes when she's bored. She really has the cutest smile and I love that she doesn't have any teeth yet.

What's a blog post about a growing baby without the cute pictures to go along with it?
